Applications are invited for a Medical Secretary in the ENT Department. The post holder will provide an efficient administration service to support the medical secretary team. The role will involve working closely with administrative, other secretarial, nursing and medical colleagues to provide a comprehensive secretarial support service. The post holder will be required to undertake audio typing of clinical letters, discharge summaries and other annotation and medical records handling, filing and other administrative tasks.
You will have good attention to detail, communication and interpersonal skills. You must have the ability to work as part of a team as well as independently; using your initiative to contribute to the smooth running of this busy area. The post holder must have the ability to manage their workload efficiently and effectively. Previous medical administration experience would be advantageous, but is not essential. Experience of working in a busy office environment is desirable.
Main duties of the job:
- To support the co-ordination of the administration arrangements to provide a high quality supportive secretarial service to the consultant, medical and nursing team.
- To work independently and be accountable for organising/prioritising own workload to ensure deadlines are achieved.
- To support the facilitation of the patients along a defined pathway.

Qualifications:
- Essential criteria: NVQ Business Administration L3 or equivalent experience. RSA/OCR level 2 or equivalent experience (must be a proficient user of Microsoft Word).
- Desirable criteria: AMSPAR – City & Guilds L3. NVQ Customer Service L3.
