We have an exciting opportunity for a Skills Development Trainer (known internally as Skills Development Manager). The role involves delivering skills development training to small groups, both online and to a lesser extent, delivering nationally face to face. You will join us on a full-time, permanent basis. The successful candidate will have previous financial services experience and can either be hybrid working, based at our company headquarters at either Beeston / Basildon or they can be based from home. In return, you will receive a starting salary of £30,000 per annum plus the opportunity to boost your earnings via a non-contractual performance related bonus worth up to £5,000 per annum.

The role
The Skills Development Manager (SDM) plays a key role in enhancing the interviewing skills of Mortgage & Protection Advisers across the Stonebridge network and also driving initiatives that help the network grow its Income Per Adviser (IPA) targets. This role is dedicated to improving adviser effectiveness in client conversations, ensuring they have the knowledge, skills, and confidence to conduct high-quality interviews that lead to outstanding client outcomes and business growth.
Working closely with the Protection Account Manager (PAM) and the wider Sales team, the SDM helps advisers refine their approach to client discussions, equipping them with the techniques to identify client needs, overcome objections, and present tailored mortgage and protection solutions effectively.
The SDM delivers structured training, coaching, and mentoring, both as part of formal programmes and through ad hoc support. They also provide targeted coaching to advisers to embed best practices in sales, marketing techniques, and client engagement, helping to maximise protection policy sales alongside mortgage business.
Key Responsibilities
- Delivery of Sales Development Programme to new & existing advisers
- Provide ad hoc coaching and support to advisers to embed Stonebridge Sales Development Programme standards
- Deliver tactical activities as per Protection Acceleration Plan (furnishing advisers with skills to become more successful at selling protection products)
- Deliver Induction Programme module (sales training)
- Build and maintain effective working relationships with Stonebridge Product Providers
These are the primary responsibilities of the role, on which the individual will be assessed and their performance measured. From time to time they may be asked to undertake other activities to support the team/company overall. These will be defined by their line manager and the expected period/duration confirmed. These responsibilities may be varied and/or expanded in line with business need in the future. This will be communicated in advance of any changes.

- Financial services sector experience
- Excellent facilitation and presentation skills, with the ability to engage and inspire diverse audiences.
- Experience and/or a demonstrable aptitude and interest in coaching, mentoring, or leadership development.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships and influence stakeholders at all levels.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with experience in performance measurement and reporting.
- Proficiency in or aptitude for learning and using learning management systems (LMS) and other training tools.
- Able to fully satisfy the pre-employment screening process which comprises of right to work, identity, 5 years referencing, AML, credit screen, financial sanctions and DBS check.
