An exciting opportunity has become available for an enthusiastic and suitably qualified medical practitioner to join Hywel Dda University Health Board's progressive team of medical educators, in the role of Medical Education Teaching Fellow for the department of Medicine in Withybush General Hospital. This full time teaching fellow role is being offered on a 12 month fixed term basis and expectations of the role include supporting undergraduate and postgraduate teaching across all medical specialties, in addition to providing generic teaching sessions for all medical students.

The position combines medical education with clinical practice, enabling the successful candidate to maintain and enhance their expertise in a specialty that aligns with their particular interest. On-call sessions will also be optional where there are rota gaps. The successful candidate will also be allocated time within the working week for continuing professional development.

Main duties of the role will include:

  • Delivering ward and classroom based teaching for Medical and Physician Associate Students in accordance with relevant curricula and learning needs
  • Delivering ward and classroom based teaching and undertaking workplace based assessments for Junior Doctors
  • Active involvement in quality improvement activities

Person Specification:

  • Language Skills: Essential Welsh speaker - level 3
  • Qualifications: Essential Medical Degree, Full GMC registration; Desirable Post graduate qualifications (e.g. MRCS or MRCP)
  • Experience: Essential Commitment to team approach and multi-disciplinary working, Experience in working in medical or surgical specialties, Completion of the UK Foundation Programme
  • Medical Education: Essential Proven interest in teaching undergraduate medical students and/or junior doctors, Displays an enthusiasm for teaching, Experience of UK Medical School Curricula & Training
