Henry Hyams is recruiting for a Legal Assistant to work in our Residential and Commercial Property Department. The Legal Assistant will join a team of experts in property transactions and will undertake residential and commercial property work for the two Directors in the department.

The ideal candidate will have at least 2 years’ experience in a property or conveyancing department in an assistant capacity; commercial property experience is desired.

The role is varied and will include but is not limited to:

  • Speak with clients and take initial instructions
  • Obtaining and carrying out title checks
  • Preparation of contracts and mortgage documentation
  • Obtaining and carrying out search checks
  • Taking client’s instructions throughout transaction
  • Corresponding with other parties (ie solicitors, brokers, estate agents) providing updates and responding to enquiries
  • Collating source of funds documentation
  • Post completion formalities including obtaining release of undertakings and registrations
  • To assist other fee earners where required
  • Archiving of closed files
  • Attend conveyancing courses where required
  • Observe rules on procedures, general conduct and confidentiality in the office as stated in the staff Handbook/Office Manual
  • Adhere to the requirements of Lexcel and the Quality Procedures Manual in the capacity of your role
  • Comply and adhere to the requirements of the CQS standard in the capacity of your role
  • Adhere to the SRA Rules and Regulations in the capacity of your role
  • Contribute to the Marketing and Business Development of the Department
