Position Overview
The production operator has the responsibility to operate the equipment and all its affiliated processes (preparing raw materials and packaging, unloading, packing, and labelling) in compliance with legal and company rules.
Location: Preston, UK
Shift: Monday to Sunday
6 a.m. to 2 p.m | 2 p.m. to 10 p.m.—4 days on, 2 days off on a rolling 12-week period.
Primary Responsibilities
- Generally, performs, with supervision, entry level production tasks which include:
- Preparation of raw materials and packaging: identifying & preparing the right quantities and transporting them to the appropriate production area, reporting any deviation from normal, and noting the start and finish of process.
- Operating Batch processing equipment in line with process instructions and procedures for bonding agent manufacture.
- Monitors equipment, keeping processes running at desired run rates.
- Weekend shift, primary responsibility to operate polymer reaction equipment in line with process instructions and procedures.
- Complete the initial testing and release of products to ensure that there are no deviations to specifications.
- Check labels & packaging material; ensure correct labelling, following the existing rules and instructions.
- Packaging the final products in accordance with instructions and H.B. Fuller quality standards.
- Carry out all operations in compliance with the expected Quality Standards and Operating procedures of H.B. Fuller and respect all legal and company EHS-rules.
- Responsible for housekeeping in his area responsibility.
- Carry out any other duties requested from the Production Manager/Supervisor.
Minimum Requirements
- Basic educational degree high school diploma or general education diploma.
- 1 year experience in an industrial environment, preferentially in chemical companies.
- Knowledge of common software programmes (MS office).
- Ability to read and understand work orders, production process, safety regulations and quality procedures and instructions.
- Availability to work in shifts, which includes weekend work.
- Work under minimal supervision during weekend shift work.
Preferred Requirements
- 1 year experience in industrial environment.
- Understanding of basic English.
Physical Environment
- Required to stand for long periods of time.
- Walk and climb stairs.
- Use hands to remove or lift boxes, bags and drums.
- Stretch and reach with arms extended.
- Stoop and bend.
- Regularly lift up to 50 pounds and up to 100 pounds with assistance.
- Temperature, dust, smell and noise are under normal chemical environment conditions.
