Brownlee Cale are recruiting for a Control (SI) Engineer for our client in Warrington. Our client is one of the UK’s leading multidisciplinary design and build contractors working across Water, Power & Energy, Pharmaceutical, and Food & Beverage sectors.
The Role: Join an experienced Controls & Automation team to deliver full lifecycle automation projects from design and software development to testing and site commissioning. You’ll work independently or within a team to meet key project milestones, often supporting blue-chip clients in Water, Industrial Automation, or Process industries.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and test PLC, HMI, and SCADA software (e.g., Rockwell, Siemens, Schneider, Mitsubishi)
- Produce Functional Design Specifications and carry out factory/site acceptance testing
- Support commissioning on client sites across the UK
- Interpret URS and reverse engineer legacy systems
- Mentor junior engineers and support project coordination as needed
- Ensure compliance with health & safety and engineering standards
Requirements:
- 3+ years of systems engineering experience
- Strong knowledge of industrial control systems and safety standards
- Proficient in PLC/HMI software and industrial comms protocols (EtherNet/IP, PROFINET, Modbus, etc.)
- SCADA, VSDs, and virtualisation experience (VMWare) preferred
- Strong communication, planning, and IT skills
- Full UK driving licence required
