I am recruiting experienced structural steel welders to join one of the UK's most respected steelwork contractors at their large-scale fabrication site in Lostock, Bolton.
This is heavy welding – flux-core and MAG work on 15–120mm mild and weathering steel, carried out to coded standards. Immediate starts available on both shifts.
The Work:
- FCAW and MAG welding in all positions
- Single and multi-run fillet welds, Full and part-penetration butt welds
- Working from engineering drawings and weld symbols
- Welding 15mm–120mm plate including weathering steel
- Following WPS and planning weld sequences
- Air arc gouging (preferred but not essential)
- Working to recognised fabrication standards
Shift Options & Pay:
- Day Shift: Mon–Thurs: 06:45–17:00, Fri: 06:45–11:45, £18.19/hour PAYE – £41,618 basic
- Night Shift: Mon–Wed: 18:00–06:30, Thurs: 18:00–02:00, £24.25/hour PAYE – £55,484 basic
- Night shift starts on days for training
- Overtime paid at enhanced rates
Weld Test:
- 1x Vertical 10FW (FCAW)
- 1x Down-hand Butt (MAG)
- 1x 10FW (MAG)
Requirements:
- Proven experience in heavy or structural steel welding
- Confident working from drawings and weld symbols
- Experience working to coded standards
