An excellent opportunity has arisen for a skilled and proactive Legal Support / Secretary to join a respected and growing law firm in Taunton. This is a varied and important role supporting fee earners in delivering high-quality legal services to clients.
About the Role:
You will provide comprehensive administrative and clerical support to fee earners, ensuring smooth and efficient running of daily operations. From managing case files to assisting with diary management and client communication, you will play a key role in maintaining the high standards the firm is known for.
Key Responsibilities:
- Providing professional and friendly support to clients, both in person and via phone/email
- Typing and preparing legal documents using case management systems and Microsoft Office applications
- Coordinating diaries, booking appointments, and supporting meetings (including note taking when required)
- Ensuring compliance with firm policies and procedures, including data security and quality standards
- Supporting billing, payments, and cash flow processes, ensuring timely invoicing and file closures
- Managing incoming and outgoing post (DX and Royal Mail), photocopying, printing, and file administration
- Ordering and maintaining office supplies, and supporting reception and meeting room duties as needed
- Participating in firm-wide marketing or administrative projects as required
- Supporting colleagues during absences (holiday/sickness cover), and promoting a team-oriented culture
- Taking accurate messages and ensuring timely delivery to appropriate staff
- Ensuring all client and internal communications are handled promptly and professionally
About You:
You will be a positive and highly organised professional with a genuine interest in the legal sector and supporting busy legal teams. The ideal candidate will have:
- Previous experience in a legal secretary, assistant, or similar administrative role (essential)
- Strong IT and typing skills, including Microsoft Word, Outlook, and Excel
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to manage time effectively and meet deadlines
- Attention to detail and a proactive, can-do attitude
- Professionalism, discretion, and a client-focused approach
- A strong understanding of confidentiality and data protection
- Willingness to support wider team and firm needs, including compliance training and office support duties
