The University of Southampton requires a full-time technician to join its technical support team within the School of Ocean and Earth Science (SOES) on a fixed-term contract. You will be based at the Waterfront Campus, providing laboratory support to the Geochemistry Research Group and its wide range of research activities including topics such as atmospheric carbon dioxide capture and sourcing metals critical for the β€œgreen” energy revolution.

You will provide all the required technical support to enable the laboratory to function effectively while adhering to correct procedures and health and safety guidelines. You will be working closely with our existing five-person technical team to provide support for the Geochemistry Research Group Laboratories, and defined research or consultancy projects. You will learn to use and maintain specialist laboratory equipment and demonstrate its use to our postgraduate students. The position is full-time but we are open to more flexible working arrangements.
