Variable Hours Term Time Only 33 weeks of the Year (Hours to be agreed). Kingston College is seeking a Teaching Assistant to support and mentor adult learners studying on the Adult ESOL programmes across the School. You will support learners to access the curriculum by providing a mix of in-class support, 1-1 support, and assignment workshop support to ensure successful completion of their qualifications. This may include helping them develop skills in report writing, essay writing, time management, reading, writing, and speaking.

You will work with learners considered to be at risk due to personal and/or family commitments that may impact their achievement, as well as those with communication and social interaction difficulties, to develop resilience, confidence, and independence. As our Teaching Assistant, we would like you to have experience of working successfully with young people and/or adults in a supporting/mentoring role within an educational setting, particularly regarding curriculum support and supporting those with social and emotional needs.

A willingness to undertake relevant staff development is expected. You should be able to use initiative, organize and prioritize tasks, and work under guidance from support managers and academic staff. You should have a good level of computer literacy with sufficient administrative skills to maintain high-quality written records of learner progress, set appropriate SMART targets based on the Individual Learning Plan, and record Pro-Monitor comments to a high standard.

As a strong communicator, you should be able to communicate effectively at all levels, work under pressure, and meet strict deadlines. The successful candidate will be eligible for any salary increase resulting from the annual cost of living review, to be implemented in the new academic year.

Benefits include an excellent pension scheme with significant employer contributions (Teachers Pensions or Local Government Pension Scheme), subsidized sports facilities, professional development and training, and a salary sacrifice cycle-to-work scheme. The benefits package is pro-rated for part-time staff.
