The Head of Data Solutions and Insights will report directly to the ESBO Director of Analytics & Insights. The role is based in 80 Stand London, but this role will cover European markets so travelling will be needed. Your key responsibilities
- The Head of Data Solutions & Insights will lead a client-facing analytics and research team. The goal will be to leverage the value of Samsung’s proprietary data and cutting-edge technology to drive engagement with brands and agencies.
- This will be achieved through client and vertical-specific tailored research and data analysis to support the short-term sales cycle, and the creation of broader thought leadership research that educates the market about the future of CTV.
- Partner with Sales in engaging our top clients and agencies to understand their needs, and advocate for how Samsung’s data can help them reach their audiences more effectively and efficiently.
- Work with sales leadership to create a clear strategy for how the Data Solutions & Insights team resources will be deployed across clients and agencies to maximise return on investment, and set clear expectations with sellers and CSMs around the level of support that is in scope for specific client tiers.
- Manage Data Solutions analysts in pre-sales data analysis, mentor internal and external partners on data optimization, and aid in post-campaign reporting.
- Own the ESBO Ads Thought Leadership roadmap. Collaborate with Product Management Marketing, Strategic Marketing, sellers, and other key team members. Align on desired outcomes.
- Build thought leadership research projects to achieve these goals. Own the delivery of conducting research projects, including identifying key narratives, and making sure collaborators are informed and aligned throughout the delivery process.
- Identify client needs and provide input and direction to Product and Engineering (P&E) on the evolution of our first-party and third-party data needs.
- Work with the Analytics team to build out POCs for new products, and partner with PMM and Product to scale successful POCs into BAU products.
- Collaborate with the Director of Analytics & Insights to find opportunities across the organisation that will drive revenue across Ads and Service Partnerships.
- Inspire change within the organization at a leadership level, applying strong written and verbal communication skills to gain support across all levels of the business.
Your key people management responsibilities
- Provide clarity on strategy, team purpose & value and define the key areas of focus and direction.
- Support the development of your team through regular mentoring, coaching and feedback, 1:1s and on the job learning opportunities.
- Role model inclusion for your team to build trust and psychological safety.
- Ensure communication with your team is a core focus area including cascade of information from LT’s and relevant business updates.
- Manage the onboarding, offboarding process and the entirety of the colleague lifecycle process for all team members.
- Manage all annual people management cycles such as goal setting, evaluation and salary reviews to a high quality and in a timely manner.
- To be accountable for ensuring your team are compliant with company processes and procedures; such as compliance, meeting mandatory business cyclical deadlines, and understanding the company values.
What we need for this role
To be successful, you will possess the following skills and attributes:
- Agency, media owner, or consulting experience strongly preferred.
- Experience in data analytics and/or research.
- Developing sales narratives for clients based on data and analytics.
- Linear TV, streaming TV, digital video, mobile measurement.
- Strong experience building data solutions to match client business needs.
- Quant and qual research.
- Campaign Reach/Frequency reporting.
- Measurement and attribution – 1st and 3rd party including JICs.
- Digital / addressable targeting.
- Clear and concise messaging - Succinctly deliver clear narratives that condense complex subjects into clear ’this is what you need to know and why’ with recommendations/next steps (verbally and written).
- Ability to translate between the business and technical communities.
- A high level of analytical and research skills are crucial, as well as the ability to communicate test results in accessible terms for non-technical colleagues.
- Relationship management abilities to cultivate relationships with clients, sellers, and business partners.
- Experience influencing at a leadership level, and adjusting communication styles appropriately.
- Ability to prioritize and handle multiple projects.
- Be capable of developing high-quality written documentation to inspire change - such as arguments, team vision and planning documents, a proposal for business change, etc.
What does success look like?
Build relationships with collaborators, customers, partners, and team members to align on Data Solutions & Insights vision. They will work various internal teams like the technical Analytics team, PMM, Strategic Marketing, Sales, CSMs, ESBO leadership, P&E, Suwon teams, Service Partnerships, other Samsung teams, as well as external collaborators like clients, JICs, external suppliers, and industry bodies to achieve the vision.
Measure success through hard metrics like revenue supported and incremental revenue, along with softer measures like feedback and relationship building. A love for data and insights, for example exploring data for fun, finding patterns, weaving the insights you find into compelling sales narratives. You are curious and take initiatives on finding new insights, new angles are looking at the data and deep dive into the meanings of campaign insights results.
Develop the reporting capacities for all types of campaigns, particularly to develop the capacities of programmatic campaign insights reporting. Help build a data-informed culture – provide decision makers with the information they need when they need it and in a way they can trust and act on.
Experience to develop strategic relationships with all areas of the business. You can root cause issues quickly and uncover core issues, then assist, collaborate with, and teach the teams how decisions affect efficiency, scalability, new mechanisms as they are needed.
