Approved Electrical Installation Engineer - BEMS & Building Technology Systems

We’re recruiting on behalf of a specialist contractor delivering advanced Building Energy Management Systems (BEMS), BMS controls, and building technology solutions. They\’re looking for an experienced Approved Electrical Installation Engineer to join their growing team. This is a hands-on role leading complex electrical installations for modern commercial and high-end residential projects, including BEMS, BMS, and associated smart building systems. You\’ll ensure high standards of safety and quality, while mentoring junior staff and contributing to smooth project delivery. What You\’ll Be Doing: Leading electrical installations to detailed technical drawings and specs Installing cable containment, power/control cabling, and network wiring for BEMS and BMS systems Completing second-fix connections of building technology and control equipment Conducting thorough inspection and testing to BS7671 standards Preparing Electrical Installation Certificates and documentation for handover Diagnosing and resolving electrical faults effectively on-site Maintaining clear records of installations, inspections, and materials used Supporting, guiding, and mentoring junior electricians and apprentices Ensuring compliance with industry standards, safety procedures, and best practices What We’re Looking For: Qualified Approved Electrician (City & Guilds, NVQ Level 3 or equivalent) SSSTS (Site Supervisor Safety Training Scheme) certification Minimum 2 years’ experience post-qualification in installation or maintenance roles Competence in Electrical Inspection & Testing (e.g. 2391-52 or equivalent) Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and technical drawings Solid experience with containment installation, cabling, second fixing, and BEMS/BMS equipment connections Strong fault-finding and diagnostic skills Organised and reliable record-keeping Confident communicator with the ability to mentor and train junior team members Desirable but Not Essential: Additional qualifications in building services or electrical engineering Specialist experience with BEMS, BMS controls, lighting control, security, AV, or smart building technologies Experience delivering work in high-end or luxury residential environments What’s on Offer: Competitive salary, tailored to experience and qualifications Opportunities for further training and professional development Supportive, safety-focused team culture Exposure to technically interesting, modern building projects Commitment to continuous improvement and sustainable practices If you’re an experienced electrical professional ready to deliver quality BEMS and BMS installations to the highest standards, we’d love to hear from you.
