Are you an experienced Senior Underwriter looking to elevate your career in a dynamic and supportive environment? Pen Underwriting is seeking an experienced underwriter to join our growing Property & Casualty team, focusing on underwriting and servicing existing accounts. If you possess sound judgment, industry expertise, and a keen eye for evaluating new business opportunities, we want to hear from you!

How you'll make an impact

  • Account Management: Maintain and expand new business, renewals, ratings, and adjustments for your allocated client portfolio.
  • Claims Handling: Address technical claim cover requests and collaborate effectively with brokers, insurers, and internal Accounts and Claims teams.
  • Mentorship: Provide guidance and mentorship to junior team members, exemplifying exemplary knowledge, attitude, and behaviours.
  • Referral Management: Review and approve referrals from Assistant Underwriters with meticulous attention to detail.
  • Data Analysis: Compile, interpret, and present statistical data to stakeholders, ensuring clarity and understanding.
  • Coverage Expertise: Develop a comprehensive understanding of the coverage provided by Pen and operate within your delegated underwriting authority.

About You

  • Educational Background: CII/Dip CII qualification, educated to A-Level standard or equivalent.
  • Risk Assessment: Strong grasp of risk exposure, capable of determining acceptance criteria and risk classifications in complex situations.
  • Underwriting Experience: Proven experience in servicing accounts, utilising specialist technical knowledge to address claim queries and deliver a seamless service.
  • Client Relations: Demonstrated ability to plan and prioritise client renewals while identifying business opportunities.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, coupled with strong numeracy and literacy abilities.
  • Problem Solving: Analytical mindset with a proactive approach to problem-solving and a 'can-do' attitude.
  • Team Player: Insightful, ambitious, and accountable team member eager to share expertise and contribute to team success.
  • Eligibility: Must be eligible to work in the UK.
