I am currently working with a North West of England based local authority in their search for an experienced adult social care professional for a 3-month initial interim contract to join their directorate and lead their priorities for health and social care. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced adult social care leader to drive strategic management, transformation and improvement of the directorate as they look to implement national and local plans, whilst delivering high quality services for those most in need.

Your duties as a Director:

  • Reporting to the Director of Adult Social Care, you will lead on governance, improvement and development of services for adult social care; including digital and systems work, engagement and assurance, as well as workforce development.
  • The role would have three direct reports at Head of Service level: one responsible for governance, improvement and development; another responsible for engagement and assurance, with the final staff member responsible for workforce development.
  • Within this role you will drive continuous improvement throughout the directorate, ensuring statutory compliance as well as leading service improvement initiatives and CQC assurance and improvement plans for the directorate.
  • As a subject leader you will drive efficiency and innovation within your teams, providing guidance on complex matters where needed and ensure accountability within the service.
  • Develop and maintain effective working partnerships with partners and other council teams, ensuring strategic objectives are met and aligned with the wider council agenda.

Experience needed as a Director:

  • Past experience at operating at Assistant Director or Director level for adult social care within a local government setting.
  • Comprehensive understanding of adult social care and health within a local government setting, and how it relates to stakeholders and the wider sector.
  • In-depth knowledge of national and political contexts relating to adult social care, with the ability to forecast future changes to drive adaptation and change.
  • Effective communication skills, working collaboratively with others and implementing a partnership mindset for adult social care.
  • Advanced knowledge and understanding of relevant statutory frameworks and their legislations, including the Mental Health Act, the Mental Capacity Act and the Care Act.
  • Available references for the most recent assignments.
