We’re seeking a seasoned Roblox Game Developer with an instinctive understanding of what makes a compelling social experience. You will be part of the game team and work closely with game design and creative to create and explore new and exciting social game experiences. The experience will feature in-world purchases and social-first mechanics. You’ll be part of the full product cycle from concept to launch with the potential to extend into live-ops.
Key Responsibilities
- Work with the team during Discovery to understand what's needed, identify potential roadblocks, and suggest ways to avoid them.
- Make sure our technical work is sound, scalable, achievable, and ideally innovative within the project's scope.
- Assess the technical feasibility of the game design and art, and help define our technical approach.
- Write efficient, robust, and reusable code that follows commercial standards.
- Keep the team updated on progress, flag any technical risks or blockers, manage technical expectations, and share/ask for help or feedback.
- Create clear documentation on the project so everyone understands the tech, new team members can get onboard easily, and future development is smoother.
What We’re Looking For
- Proven experience shipping one or more Roblox experiences with Live Operations, with deep understanding of Luau and OOP.
- Proficiency in Roblox Studio’s core systems, Roblox API, CFrame, UI/UX and performance and optimisation.
- Solid understanding of backend Roblox multiplayer services, such as datastore and MemoryStoreService, including experience with efficient data handling and management of player data to avoid exploits.
- Experience with Git & Rojo, showcasing comfort working in team-based environments using version control and collaborative coding workflows.
- Understanding of Roblox's asset management, including importing, managing, and optimising various assets (meshes, textures, audio).
- Excellent communicator, team player, and effective problem solver.
Nice to Have
- Advanced asynchronous scripting such as promises and maid patterns.
- Actively involved and understands the Roblox community and audience motivations.
