We are seeking an experienced and qualified Building Control Surveyor (Class 2) to join the team on a temporary basis. You will be responsible for ensuring that building works within your remit comply with relevant Building Regulations and associated legislation.

Location: Enfield

Job Type: Temporary

Duration: Initially 3 months, with potential for extension

Start Date: ASAP

Working Hours: 36 hours per week, Monday to Friday, 9:00 AM – 5:30 PM

Pay Rate: Up to £70 per hour (Umbrella) or up to £60 per hour (PAYE, inclusive of holiday pay)

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct site inspections to assess compliance with Building Regulations and associated legislation.
  • Undertake plan assessments and ensure timely and accurate evaluations as part of a wider team.
  • Investigate reports of dangerous structures, supervise demolition works, and handle contraventions.
  • Provide expert guidance to developers, contractors, and other stakeholders.
  • Deputise for senior officers as required and contribute to overall service performance.
  • Maintain clear records, prepare professional reports, and communicate effectively.
  • Support continuous improvement efforts and uphold strong customer service standards.

Requirements:

Essential:

  • Registered as a Class 2 Building Inspector under the Building Safety Regulator (or working towards it).
  • Professional membership with RICS or CABE.
  • Minimum requirement to obtain Band B – General Registration with the Building Safety Regulator.
  • Strong understanding of the Building Control process and legislation.
  • Demonstrated experience in site inspections and plan assessment.
  • Knowledge of managing dangerous structures and demolitions is advantageous.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, along with strong IT capability.
  • Ability to manage a varied and demanding workload efficiently and independently.
  • Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle for regular site visits.

Desirable:

  • Experience handling dangerous structures and demolition inspections.
  • Prior experience working within the public sector.
