Working as part of a dynamic and reactive team you will be responsible for the Fatigue and Damage Tolerance (F&DT) assessment of metallic wing structures. You will ensure adherence to airworthiness regulations, relevant design principles, processes, methods and manufacturing capability guidelines. Your primary role will be to provide Fatigue and Damage Tolerance analysis for the repair/acceptance of damaged aircraft structures, whilst working with Design and Static Stress engineers, within challenging timeframes.
We are a dynamic and reactive multifunctional team providing a rapid response to operators and maintenance organisations, delivering repair design solutions within their operational constraints. The role offers opportunities to provide valuable support to our customers as they face real in-service issues. We enjoy the challenge of creating and delivering repairs for any sort of damage, anywhere on the wing structure!
What you will be doing:
- Perform Fatigue & Damage Tolerance assessment of repairs using approved methods and tools.
- Create, compile and co-ordinate justification reports and associated engineering documentation required for repair approval.
- Ensure all tasks and activities required for Repair Engineering are correctly planned, monitored and executed to achieve customer time scales.
- Work in conjunction with the Repair Design and Static Stress Engineers to develop optimum repairs.
About You:
The requirement is for an Engineer with an Aerospace Engineering background, with experience of how airframe repairs are developed and justified. You are able to manage multiple priorities to time, cost and quality in a challenging and fast paced environment. You enjoy working as part of a team to develop effective solutions to complex technical problems and ensure efficient delivery of tasks.
Essential Skills:
- Aerospace or Mechanical Engineering degree (or equivalent) and relevant engineering experience.
- Experience of Fatigue and Damage Tolerance analysis of aircraft structures using a range of hand and computer methods.
- An understanding of the fundamental methods of Fatigue and Damage Tolerance analysis and an ability to apply these methods.
- Knowledge and experience of using Fatigue and Damage Tolerance analysis tools and methods (including ISAMI and Mathcad).
- Experience of compiling Fatigue and Damage Tolerance justification reports to high standards and ways of working.
- Good interpersonal and communication skills (both written and verbal).
