We are currently recruiting for an Roster Clerk for a 6 month contract; Job Purpose To maintain effective and efficient employee rosters in compliance with relevant company standards, National Rostering Principles, competency requirements, and agreed Terms and Conditions of employment. This role ensures optimal coverage while supporting safety, performance, and workforce well-being. Key Responsibilities 1. Roster Management: Compile and publish agreed rosters using the corporate rostering tool, ensuring alignment with Maintenance Rostering Principles and company policies. 2. Weekly Scheduling: Prepare weekly duty rosters, covering all aspects such as sickness, annual leave, training, briefings, and special operational requirements. Liaise with line managers to ensure data accuracy. 3. Short Notice Changes: Manage and communicate short-notice roster changes. Liaise with affected employees and line managers to confirm changes verbally where required and resolve related queries promptly. 4. Medical & Interview Scheduling: Coordinate roster arrangements to accommodate medical examinations and staff interviews. 5. Training & Competency Compliance: Schedule rosters to align with safety-critical competence expiry dates, training plans, courses, and briefings. Monitor competency data to ensure base roster shifts are always covered. 6. Competency Liaison: Work closely with the Competency Delivery Specialist to maintain up-to-date competency records for all employees. 7. Fatigue Management: Gather and analyse fatigue data, escalating concerns to relevant line managers to support safe working practices. 8. Reporting & Data Support: Provide accurate information and data to support route and delivery unit reporting requirements, enabling data-driven decision-making. Person Specification Essential Skills & Experience * Proven ability to prioritise workloads and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment. * Strong interpersonal and communication skills with a collaborative approach. * Demonstrated experience in data analysis and report generation. * Sound understanding of rostering systems and applicable conditions of service. * High attention to detail and accuracy in data handling. * Confident IT user, with good general computing skills (e.g., MS Office, particularly Excel). * Previous experience working within a team, including coordination with virtual or remote team members. Desirable * Experience using a corporate rostering or workforce planning tool. * Knowledge of safety-critical environments or rail industry standards. * Understanding of fatigue risk management principles.
