Are you ready to be a vital part of a dynamic yard operations team? We are seeking a dedicated Yard Operations Manager to join our team at the Borough Green plant. Your primary role is to manage, oversee and control the yard function ensuring efficiency and effectiveness of all loading equipment and staff, safely and profitably.
You will be working Monday to Friday, 40 hours, between the hours of 06:00am – 18:00pm.
Key Responsibilities:
- Direct and control the use of the yard to ensure maximum use of available space and a safe, efficient, and profitable operation which meets customer and business needs at all times.
- Oversee the yard operation to ensure that all loads are compliant, safe and vehicle on site times are within the agreed KPI times.
- Provide advice to company managers, supervisors and staff on yard space utilisation, ensuring production is both reported correctly and located in the correct location.
- Maintain all necessary records of goods stored and dispatched ensuring physical stock matches with stock reports at all times.
- Liaise on a daily basis with the Production Team to ensure that production, customer services and haulier operations are in alignment that there is effective coordination of all operations and that customer requirements are met.
- Identify and implement projects relating to the use of the yard to enhance continuous improvement on operational effectiveness.
- Uphold and enforce rigorous housekeeping standards with regards to the yard area and documentation.
- Ensure that vehicle load fill is maximised at all times.
- Liaise with all 3rd parties that attend site to ensure they are compliant with site rules when operating within the yard.
- Assess the urgency of issues that occur, addressing to ensure operation efficiency and escalate as necessary.
- Attend all site relevant meetings such as Health and Safety and BSI Audit Reviews.
- Effectively manage the Yard Operations team with regular 1 to 1’s, including supervisors to ensure that they are trained to the required standard.
- Support the Yard Operations team by managing various aspects of employee relations and people management, with the support of HR when relevant, including but not limited to Return-to-Work Interviews, Investigations and performance management.
- Conduct Incident and Accident investigations as required.
- Ensure all daily reports are up to date and remain accurate.
- Attend Daily Production Meeting as and when required.
- Support the Logistics Specialist in all aspects of Yard Operations and deputise as required.
- Work closely and support the wider Site Management Team as required utilising the Service Level Agreement between departments.
- Adhere to the company's policies, procedures and protocols, to ensure the highest quality standards for all our products and services.
- Achieve outstanding results by setting ambitious targets, tracking progress meticulously, and implementing operational efficiencies to foster continuous improvement.
About You:
- Possess a solid secondary education, including Maths and English and higher education level qualification, for example A Level, BTEC, etc.
- Demonstrable experience in a Yard Management role.
- An experienced people manager – able to motivate and lead a team.
- Highly proficient in spoken and written English, with excellent communication skills.
