About the role
St Catherine's Catholic College, The Whitsundays, is seeking an experienced and dedicated Assistant Principal - Religious Education - Secondary. This role commences January 2026 and concludes on 26 June 2026. The Assistant Principal - Religious Education (APRE - Secondary) provides effective professional leadership by developing and nurturing the Catholic tradition and Religious Life of the School, along with the coordination of Religious Education.
The purpose of the APRE is to exercise leadership and assist with the management of the school in accordance with Catholic Education policies, in consultation with other personnel, and with due reference to Catholic Education structures, processes, and practices. The APRE is responsible for supervising those areas delegated by the Principal, as outlined in the duty statement, which should be reviewed annually.

Mandatory Criteria/Professional Registration/Other:
- Appropriate tertiary qualification with registration or eligibility for registration with Queensland College of Teachers.
- Postgraduate qualification for senior leadership in Catholic schools, including at least 8 semester units in Religious Education, Scripture, Theology, or Catholic Ethos from an Australian Catholic university or institution.
- Full accreditation to teach in a Catholic School and to teach Religious Education.
- Capacity to lead in living and sharing the Catholic faith, Mission of the Church, and Catholic ethos, influencing and enriching the school community.
- Ability to perform physical requirements safely.
- Current Driver’s License.
- Willingness to travel within the Catholic Diocese of Townsville as needed.
Desirable Criteria:
- At least five years of successful teaching experience across various year levels.
- Masters or other postgraduate qualifications in Theology, Religious Education, or Educational Leadership.
- Evidence of leadership in educational, pastoral, theological, and managerial aspects.
