The Role: How You'll Make an Impact at Personio
At Personio, we are on an exciting journey to become Europe's leading HR platform, empowering organizations to work more efficiently by streamlining and automating thousands of HR processes. As an Engineering Manager leading the Mobile Engineering team, you will be at the forefront of defining and delivering exceptional mobile experiences for our customers. You will drive the team's technical strategy, foster innovation, and ensure the delivery of high-quality mobile products that align with our business goals. Collaborating cross-functionally, you will mentor and inspire a talented group of mobile engineers, empowering them to scale our mobile platform and create transformative user experiences. This role will be Hybrid, based in our London office 2 days a week.
What You Will Focus On
- High-Performing Teams: Lead and mentor a diverse engineering team, ensuring their growth, engagement, and success. Create an inclusive, high-performance culture that encourages ownership and autonomy.
- Maximizing Impact: Collaborate with product and design partners to define, prioritize, and execute high-impact initiatives. Influence the strategic direction of workflow automation, a key driver of Personio's enterprise growth.
- Technical & Operational Excellence: Leverage your technical background to facilitate architectural discussions, improve operational metrics, and drive scalable engineering solutions. Ensure that our systems maintain high performance and reliability, including improvements to page load times and system performance.
- Stakeholder & Cross-Team Collaboration: Partner with L6 engineering managers, L7 directors, and product teams to create well-aligned, strategic engineering roadmaps. Work across multiple business units, navigating cross-functional dependencies and ensuring alignment with broader company goals.
What You Need to Succeed
- Proven leadership experience: 3+ years of hands-on people management, successfully leading and scaling engineering teams.
- Strong engineering background: 5+ years of software engineering experience, ideally in scalable distributed systems.
- Technical acumen: Comfortable engaging in deep technical discussions with engineers and improving system performance metrics.
- Product-first mindset: Experience working in a product triad setup, with the ability to thrive in ambiguity and complexity.
- Stakeholder management: Excellent ability to build relationships, communicate effectively, and drive alignment across multiple teams.
- Ownership & decision-making: Skilled at creating strategic proposals and leading collaborative decision-making.
- Experience managing remote teams: The team includes engineers across London, Dublin, Germany, and New York, so remote leadership skills are a plus.
