My client is seeking a Service & Assembly Technician to join their dynamic team. They are a specialist UK engineering company developing cutting-edge tools for hazardous material handling. Our systems are used by leading organisations across defence, emergency response, civil nuclear, and energy sectors. We work at the sharp end of safety—helping teams deal with some of the most dangerous substances and environments in the world.

This is a workshop-based role ideal for someone with mechanical aptitude who wants to develop a long-term technical career in a fast-paced, purpose-driven environment. This position is also well-suited to recent apprentices or early-career technicians who are eager to learn and build a future in specialist engineering.

Responsibilities:
  • Assist in the assembly and integration of mechanical/electrical systems
  • Carry out routine servicing, inspection, and minor repairs on returned equipment
  • Support system testing, quality checks, and documentation
  • Maintain workshop tools, equipment, and work areas
  • Learn and apply machining, fitting, and diagnostic techniques
  • Work closely with engineers and service staff to support ongoing projects
Experience:
  • Hands-on experience in a mechanical or technical role (e.g., fitter, technician, apprentice-trained role)
  • A relevant qualification (e.g., HNC/HND in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, or successful completion of an engineering apprenticeship)
  • A practical, problem-solving mindset and a strong desire to learn
  • Familiarity with hand tools, basic assembly methods, and technical drawings
  • Strong attention to detail and good communication skills
  • Comfortable working in a small, close-knit technical team
