We are currently recruiting for a Technical Engineer for a permanent role working in the Automotive and Industrial Components/Engineering Fasteners sector. The working week is 38.5 hours. Working hours are 730am to 430pm Monday to Thursday and 730am to 12pm on Fridays.
Role Objective and Purpose
- Providing technical support to Commercial/NPI Teams, Quality Team and Customers.
- Reviewing technical specifications from customers and suppliers to ensure feasibility of product.
Role Tasks and Duties
- Conducting technical reviews at RFQ stage. Initial RFQ review with sales teams.
- Customer drawing review and identification of any concerns (I.e. Safety Critical, SC's and CC's).
- Customer CAD review and completion of 3D models / fully dimensioned 2D drawings (Current CAD package – Autodesk Inventor).
- Liaise with customers regarding technical concerns identified during initial enquiry.
- Feasibility check and complete.
- Potential supplier selection.
- Supplier offers review.
APQP
- Hold regular meetings with individual territory teams regarding APQP documentation (APQP Gateways checklist, PPAP Trackers).
- Ensure feasibility documentation is completed accurately by suppliers and stored correctly within project files.
- Record meeting notes and all required actions as output from each meeting.
- Follow up actions on a day to day basis to ensure timely transition from customer RFQ to fully qualified offer.
- Offer Technical support with queries.
- Review PPAP trackers on a regular basis without presence of territory teams, ensuring documents are being completed and tracked as required.
NPI
- Point of contact for all major Automotive customers during NPI process, predominantly customer SQA/STA engineers.
- Assist Quality team in designing and implementing appropriate inspection plans especially with relation to complex CMM parts.
- Assist Quality team with PPAP submissions where required.
- Mediate with customer SQA/STA on concerns raised during PPAP submission.
- Expedite PSW approval as necessary.
- To participate and assist with the planning and implementation of new DLF systems alongside sales planning, logistics and operations teams.
Customer Interaction
- Build relationships with customer engineering/technical contacts.
- To provide an assistance point of contact to all customers – if concerns are not relevant to this role then other colleagues are notified.
- Respond to queries and concerns in a timely manner.
Candidate Specification
- Strong Engineering background, ideally gained within the Automotive or Engineering Fasteners industry.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications.
- Competent in the use of basic metrology skills.
- IT literate with good working knowledge of MS Word and Excel.
- Valid driving license.
