LJ Transportation are seeking to employ a dedicated and hardworking Yard Worker to join our team. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in maintaining the efficiency of our yard operations. This can be based at either one of these locations: Our Childerditch (Brentwood) yard or our Colchester yard.
Monday - Friday, 8am-5pm
To be considered for this role you must have a full UK car licence and valid in date forklift licence. The role will consist of the following:
- Maintaining a clean and organized yard
- Operating machinery such as forklifts
- Assisting with inventory management
- Ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations
- Communicating effectively with colleagues and supervisors
- Carrying out administrative duties whenever necessary
- Dealing with members of the public and having an eye for detail

The ideal candidate will:
- Be competent at using a forklift (Licence Required)
- An understanding of vehicles is a must and some knowledge of the recovery sector will be an advantage but is not essential
- Have good customer service skills
- Be computer literate
- Have a full current driving licence and be willing to be vetted by the police to fulfil contractual obligations
- Have competent reading and writing ability
Skills:
- Proficiency in using warehouse management systems for tracking inventory
- Strong mechanical knowledge with the ability to perform basic equipment repairs
- Experience in shipping and receiving processes within a warehouse setting
- Basic maths skills for accurate measurement and inventory management
- Familiarity with materials handling techniques to ensure safe transport of goods
- Capability to operate forklifts safely and efficiently, with relevant certifications preferred
- Physical ability to perform heavy lifting tasks regularly throughout the shift
- Excellent organisational skills with attention to detail in all aspects of work
