We are seeking a skilled Air Export Manager to lead and manage air export operations across the London site and Gateway (consols). This pivotal role ensures the smooth and efficient processing of air freight shipments, in strict compliance with international regulations and high customer service standards. Reporting to the Export Manager, you’ll be responsible for managing a dedicated Air Export team, optimising operational performance, and building strong partnerships with clients, carriers, and regulatory bodies.
Our client is an established and successful logistics business who operate globally, this role is based at the UK Head Office in Feltham. This is a fantastic opportunity for a driven and experienced professional to contribute to the ongoing success of their Airfreight division and to play a key role in shaping its future.
Key Responsibilities
- Operational Oversight: Manage all air export processes to ensure shipments are handled efficiently, on time, and within budget.
- Team Leadership: Lead, mentor, and develop the export team to deliver high performance and continuous improvement.
- Client Relationship Management: Foster strong client relationships, resolve issues promptly, and ensure service excellence.
- Compliance & Regulation: Maintain adherence to IATA standards, UK CAA regulations, Aviation Security protocols, and customs requirements.
- Vendor & Carrier Coordination: Collaborate with airlines, hauliers, and third-party vendors; negotiate rates and services.
- Documentation & Accuracy: Supervise the preparation and validation of all export documentation including AWBs, commercial invoices, and packing lists.
- Process & Efficiency Improvements: Identify operational bottlenecks and implement process enhancements.
- Financial Control: Monitor operational costs, ensure accurate invoicing, and maintain profit margins.
- Risk Management: Assess risks in export operations and establish contingency measures.
- Reporting: Produce and analyse key performance data on freight volumes, cost efficiency, and overall performance.
Candidate Profile
- At least 5 years’ experience in air export freight forwarding.
- In-depth understanding of international air freight operations and compliance.
- Working knowledge of CargoWise would be beneficial.
- Knowledge of UK CAA and Aviation Security regulations.
- Strong leadership and people management skills.
- Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
- Clear and confident communication and negotiation skills.
