Innovate, Design, and Build the Future on Sustainable Foundations

Are you ready to take on a key technical role in a growing company that values innovation, creativity, and engineering excellence? Are you excited by projects with a lifecycle of days or weeks rather than years? GroundPlug is looking for a talented and forward-thinking Senior or Principal Engineer to strengthen our capabilities and help us develop cutting-edge solutions in the field of steel foundations. This is an exciting opportunity to join a dynamic, fast-growing company where your ideas will shape real-world infrastructure and residential construction across Europe and beyond.

About GroundPlug

Founded in 2008, GroundPlug provides high-quality, sustainable steel foundations for both residential and industrial construction. With a strong foothold in Denmark - serving major infrastructure clients like Banedanmark (Danish Rail) and the Danish Road Directorate - and increasing demand from markets such as the UK, Germany, and Sweden, GroundPlug is poised for continued growth. Our head office is in Hillerød, Denmark, but we also have people working remotely in other European countries.

The Role

As a Senior/Principal Engineer, you will take a central role in our engineering efforts. As part of a small company, your contributions will have a direct impact on our technical direction and product innovation. You will collaborate with both internal colleagues and external engineering partners to develop customized, high-performance solutions for a wide range of applications - from small residential builds to large-scale industrial projects.

Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Analysing residential, commercial, and infrastructure projects to optimize foundation layout.
  • Understanding capacities of foundations in different soil types (you don’t need to be a geotechnical engineer, but a genuine interest in learning about soil behaviour is essential).
  • Developing and improving engineering tools and parametric models to streamline quoting, design, and documentation workflows.
  • Supporting product development through concept creation, testing, and prototyping of new steel foundation systems and accessories.
  • Collaborating with commercial and operational teams to assess feasibility, costs, and technical risk.
  • Reviewing project requirements, tender materials, and providing input for client proposals.

What We’re Looking For

We are seeking an engineer who is technically strong, curious by nature, and excited about working across a variety of projects and challenges. We imagine you have:

  • A degree in civil or structural engineering, or as a building constructor, with solid knowledge of steel or timber structures.
  • Practical experience in the design of load-bearing structures - experience with foundation systems is a plus.
  • Experience with engineering tools (structural analysis and CAD).
  • Bonus if you have worked with parametric/digital design tools (e.g., Grasshopper, C#, python etc.).
  • Excellent written and spoken English.

Work Flexibility & Culture

We believe in flexibility and trust. You can be based anywhere in Europe and work remotely, with occasional travel to Denmark or elsewhere to meet up with the team or major clients. You'll work closely with a team that values open dialogue, autonomy, and shared problem-solving.

Why Join GroundPlug?

This is more than just a technical role – we are a small company that likes to solve complex challenges. If you see something we can improve, whether that be engineering, marketing, the way we manage our projects etc., you will be encouraged and supported to help improve the company. At GroundPlug, engineers are empowered to think creatively, propose new ideas, and develop solutions that make a real-world impact.

We offer:

  • A role with significant influence on product and process development
  • A collaborative, flat-structured environment with minimal bureaucracy
  • Real opportunities for personal and professional growth
  • A chance to help shape the future of sustainable building practices
