Job Description:

This position involves assisting teachers in a special education learning center by performing tasks that promote student learning and well-being. Responsibilities include working with students individually and in small groups, supporting instructional and classroom management activities, and performing clerical tasks. Physical demands include bending, walking, running, lifting up to 50 pounds, and assisting with daily living activities and behaviors. Outside duty and flexible scheduling may be required, along with potential training for medication administration and handling students with special needs.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• Knowledge of child development and instructional strategies
• Ability to implement instructional programs and monitor student behavior
• Effective communication skills and patience working with children and staff
• Ability to follow instructions and support students with special needs
• Proficiency with desktop hardware and MS Office software
• Understanding of the Supporting Services Professional Growth System (SSPGS)

Qualifications:

• Associate\’s degree required; Bachelor\’s preferred
• Minimum of 9 college credits related to education or equivalent experience
• One year experience working with students in educational settings or equivalent
• Successful completion of the ParaPro Assessment with a score of 455 or higher

Additional Information:

May require outside duty, flexible scheduling, and training for specific student needs. The position may involve assisting with medication administration after proper training.
