Chase Taylor Recruitment is currently working with a leading manufacturer to recruit an experienced Extrusion Manager to oversee and develop the extrusion department within a thriving production facility based in the Birmingham area. This is a fantastic opportunity for a candidate with strong technical knowledge of extrusion processes and proven team leadership capabilities, who thrives in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee daily operations of the extrusion department, ensuring production targets, product quality, and health & safety standards are consistently achieved.
- Lead and mentor a team of extrusion operators and packers.
- Manage staffing levels, shift patterns, and resource planning.
- Implement and maintain procedures for tooling setup and quality control processes.
- Liaise cross-functionally with Maintenance, Toolroom, Warehouse, and Mixing Plant departments to ensure efficient operations.
- Analyse performance data, troubleshoot faults, investigate returns, and implement continuous improvement strategies.
- Ensure full compliance with ISO 9001 standards and lean manufacturing principles.
- Provide backup in quality control including physical property testing.
- Support and coordinate material trials with the Mixing Plant Manager to enhance formulation performance.
The Ideal Candidate Will Have:
- Solid knowledge of extrusion line setup and the polymer plasticisation process.
- Understanding of quality testing in line with BSI Standards.
- Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Working knowledge of ISO 9001 and lean manufacturing.
- Competency in Microsoft Office applications.
