We have a vacancy for the role of Fitness Consultant to support the delivery of the fitness product at Wakefield Council Leisure facilities on a Part-Time basis. This role is frontline in supporting people of Wakefield District to improve their health and wellbeing through the delivery of our customer journey and the wider fitness product including group exercise classes.
The successful candidate will have a direct impact on our customers' health and therefore need to be enthusiastic about interacting, educating and setting customers up for success in their health and fitness journey. The role offers an excellent opportunity to work for WMDC who are passionate about improving the health and wellbeing of the district whilst supporting staff with their own career aspirations and development.
This role will open the door to the Leisure, health and fitness industry collaborating with other likeminded professionals across a range of clientele. As stated, the job includes delivery of our customer journey, which includes inductions, personal fitness programmes and supporting our service users with their health and wellbeing goals.
Other tasks include maintenance, cleaning and ensuring correct health and safety standards are met within the gym environment. Supervision of the fitness suites with WMDC facilities is a primary task, so candidates will need to be the welcoming friendly face required for service users whilst ensuring exercise is being completed in a safe and effective manner.
In addition to this, it is beneficial if you already hold qualifications and have experience of delivering group exercise classes, as contributing to this delivery across our extensive group programme is required. Some of the classes on our programme include Zumba, Aqua classes, Yoga, Pilates, Les Mills classes (Body Pump and Body Combat), High Intensity Interval Training (HIIT), studio cycling, circuit or boxing based classes.
Candidates must have excellent customer service skills, be able to engage with a range of customers and actively promote services delivered by Wakefield Council such as the Aspire membership scheme. We are looking for candidates who possess the correct personal skills, enthusiasm, and motivation to excel in the role. You will need to be well organised, be able to adapt quickly and think on your feet. The right attitude, a passion for health and fitness alongside excellent communication skills are essential in the role.
You will need to hold a minimum of a level 2 Gym/Fitness Instructor qualification which is endorsed by the relevant governing body such as REPS or CIMSPA. The successful applicant will be required to complete a Disclosure Application Form and to provide criminal conviction information.
