Junior CAD Technician Permanent Full-Time

Salary – Circa 22,500 DOE
Location – Office based in Somercotes

As a Junior CAD Draughtsperson, you\’ll play an integral role within a busy CAD Office, supporting the design and development of industry-leading mineral processing equipment. This is an ideal opportunity for someone at the start of their career, whether you\’re a recent school, college or university leaver, with a passion for engineering design and a willingness to learn.

Responsibilities, but are not limited to

• Creating accurate 2D manufacturing drawings and 3D CAD models (ideally using SolidWorks) across a diverse product range
• Supporting engineering projects from concept through to production, ensuring drawings meet technical and quality standards
• Assisting with the generation and maintenance of Bills of Materials (BOMs) and manufacturing data using internal systems
• Liaising with cross-functional teams across the UK and internationally to ensure a smooth design-to-production handover
• Developing your understanding of heavy engineering processes, including welding, casting, and machining
• Maintaining clear documentation and ensuring all design work is correctly stored and version-controlled
• Contributing to a collaborative team environment while meeting deadlines and managing multiple design tasks effectively

Experiences required

• A recognised qualification in Mechanical Engineering or a related subject (e.g. GCSEs with relevant technical training, BTEC, HNC/HND or Degree)
• Basic experience or exposure to 3D CAD software (e.g. SolidWorks, Solid Edge, Inventor, Onshape, Fusion 360, Creo, CATIA, etc.) – training will be provided
• A genuine interest in engineering design and manufacturing processes such as welding, casting, fabrication, and machining
• Good IT skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
• A positive attitude, eagerness to learn, and willingness to contribute as part of a supportive team
