The company are seeking an experienced and driven Automation Manager to lead the development, implementation, and optimisation of automation systems across a high-volume manufacturing environment. We are looking for a strategic thinker with hands-on technical expertise and leadership capability. This role can also lead to career development and promotional opportunities.
About the role:
As Automation Manager, you will be responsible for identifying automation opportunities, overseeing projects from concept to commissioning, and ensuring seamless integration with existing production operations. You'll play a key role in driving efficiency, consistency, and innovation on the factory floor.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the design, planning, and execution of automation projects across the site.
- Identify opportunities to improve productivity, reduce downtime, and eliminate manual processes.
- Develop and implement efficient systems, including automation capex equipment to increase productivity and reduce waste.
- Analyse existing manufacturing processes to identify areas for improvement.
- Use lean manufacturing, Six Sigma, or other methodologies to streamline operations.
- Evaluate and upgrade existing equipment for better performance.
- Collaborate with quality control teams to ensure products meet established standards.
- Investigate and address production defects or inefficiencies.
- Collect and analyse production data to monitor performance and identify trends.
- Use predictive analytics to anticipate potential issues and mitigate risks.
- Provide ongoing support to production teams for troubleshooting and process adjustments.
- Ensure that manufacturing processes comply with health, safety, and environmental regulations.

Skills and Experience:
- Proven experience in a similar automation-focused role within a high-speed or complex manufacturing environment.
- Strong knowledge of PLC, SCADA systems, and industrial networking.
- Project management experience, from concept through to commissioning.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic, fast-moving setting.
- A bachelor's degree in engineering (mechanical, industrial, or manufacturing).
- Certifications in Lean Six Sigma or related areas are a plus.
- Strong knowledge of manufacturing principles, materials, and processes.
- Familiarity with CAD software, automation tools, and process simulation.
- Ability to identify root causes of inefficiencies and implement effective solutions.
- Proficient in data analysis and process modelling.
