The role of Technology Manager, Automation Transformation within the Industrial Transformation Group is responsible for providing leadership and delivery of a specific function and/or for the technical delivery of large programmes of work for customers in sectors including aerospace, defence, and security. You will work with manufacturing clients using the MTC structured engagement process and MTC Delivery Methods. By deploying the discovery process, you will define the current state of manufacturing operations using assessment and mapping tools to identify opportunities for productivity improvement and technology insertion, supporting the shaping of future business strategies. Collaborating with colleagues in the Automation Transformation team, you will deliver the objectives of the team, the wider Technology Adoption Department, and the Industrial Transformation Group.
Main Responsibilities:
- Leading projects with manufacturing clients at their site(s)
- Running client discovery workshops to identify and explore relevant information
- Scoping potential opportunities for deploying manufacturing best practices and technology applications
- Evaluating opportunities to define work packages with clear value propositions
- Scoping and delivering programmes to achieve a step change in volume, quality, or efficiency by introducing new equipment, processes, and working methods into existing production systems
- Up-scaling and industrialising prototype production through programme delivery
- Running workshops to identify suitable technology opportunities supporting strategic growth
- Developing pilot programmes for technology projects, including planning for technology selection
- Providing technical leadership on client-facing projects, leading project teams comprising engineers from various groups such as Business, Digital, Automation, Technology, and Sustainability Transformation, as well as MTC Technology Groups like APS, DE, CMT, and AMTC Future Skills
- Operating as a Technical Governor on nominated projects after approval
- Delivering work packages from the Automation Transformation project framework to prepare businesses for automation and technology insertion, including frameworks like automation discovery, feasibility, and supplier engagement
- Maintaining and developing the system integrator database and supply chain
- Supporting Technology Groups in developing technology solutions
- Performing technical and administrative roles to ensure effective delivery of MTC’s business.
