What you need to know about the role
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Roll Designer to join our client supporting the development and continuous improvement of hot rolled steel profiles. You will work closely with the Roll Design team to assist in day-to-day operations, new product development, and the commissioning of roll passes and guide systems. This role offers hands-on involvement in the full lifecycle of product development – from concept design through to post-production analysis – playing a key part in improving product quality and performance.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the development, commissioning, and optimisation of roll designs for new and existing profiles
- Assist with root cause analysis and implement solutions to improve product and process performance
- Carry out drawing modifications and support the design of mill guides and tooling equipment
- Liaise with internal departments to support mill improvements and contribute to production efficiency
- Maintain and update roll pass designs and tooling inventory
- Help deliver project plans related to product development and equipment upgrades
- Provide occasional night and weekend cover during product trials and commissioning phases
What we need to know about you
- Holds a Level 4 qualification in Mechanical Engineering, ideally with a focus on CAD
- Has experience working within an engineering or design office environment
- Demonstrates strong problem-solving skills and a proactive mindset
- Is confident communicating across teams and with stakeholders at all levels
- Possesses sound knowledge of CAD and SolidWorks or similar design software
