QA Engineering Specialist (Martlesham Heath, Ipswich, United Kingdom)

We need you if you like a wide variety of work, enjoy a challenge and are passionate about delivering high quality hardware and software engineering in the Wi-Fi space. You’ll be a Senior Engineer in an Agile squad that develops, maintains and executes the testing of new hardware and firmware. In the squad, you will contribute to the full agile lifecycle, putting the Wi-Fi product features through their paces to validate for our customers. You’ll write automated tests, configure our test tools, analyse results, prepare and share our result data to the decision making process for releases and review in-life data for our customer base. You will be creating automated tests that interface with the test tools and capturing the results to Grafana. Checking the test results daily from nightly test runs and investigating the outcome.

Key to the role is an excellent understanding of how Wireless technologies are used by our customer and how they can be diagnosed in the home. We use our automation tools, expertise and analysis skills to ensure the test coverage of the Wi-Fi testing within the CPE proves that the CPE ‘provides the best in class’ Wi-Fi experience for our Broadband and TV customers – come and join us to see your skills make a real difference to the people you see every day.

What you’ll be doing:

• Take ownership and work with projects in the development and testing of new and existing Wi-Fi devices.
• Constantly developing new automation and manual testing methods to get the most rewards out of the Wi-Fi testing.
• Prioritising issues and driving bug reviews with the internal development team.
• Working with the Design Specialist on new and upcoming Hardware and Software features.
• Responsible for the Wireless testing against current and future devices within the Broadband portfolio.
• Working with the Key Stakeholders to identify new requirements and test methods.
• Adheres to engineering best practices.
• Applies agile principles to the way features are tested and validated.
• Engages in agile lifecycle ceremonies.
• Analyses and resolves issues.
• Innovates with the available test tools and seeks to improve the level of automation.
• Mentoring of junior members of the team.

Skills:

• Knowledge of Wi-Fi standards and implementation.
• Wi-Fi CPE Testing experience.
• Test Automation experience, creating automated test scripts and integrating into Robot Framework (python and gitlab).
• A high level of Experience with Jira / Gitlab / Robot Framework.
• Agile processes within a CI/CD framework.
• In depth knowledge of the Software Delivery Life Cycle.
• Have a proven ability to learn new technologies and put these into practice.
• Spirent ‘Test Centre’ experience.
• CWNP or equivalent experience of working with Wi-Fi standards and testing techniques.
• Experience with various CPE network solutions.
