JMC Aviation are working with a component repair company based in Saffron Walden (relocating to Braintree in Autumn 2025), looking to recruit a new Head of Procurement to join their team. This client specialises in component repairs for a wide range of commercial aircraft from electrical to mechanical and interior to welding. This is a Permanent Position based in Saffron Walden (relocating to Braintree in Autumn 2025). 40 hours per week, working days – 08:00-16:30.

The Role
The role holder will report to the Head of Production and the primary purpose of the job will be to manage all aspects of purchasing to ensure all component parts and materials are available to production in order to maximise production output at the best negotiated purchase prices.
Other duties involve:
- Establish and implement purchasing policies, procedures and best practices
- Direct procurement policies to ensure all items are purchased and delivered within budget and time constraints
- Identify and source new suppliers and vendors
- Manage vendor and supplier selection process based on price, quality, support, capacity and reliability
- Develop and maintain strategic relationships with key suppliers and vendors
- Develop, negotiate and administer purchasing agreements and contracts with suppliers in support of organizational requirements
- Evaluate contracts to ensure compliance with legal requirements and organizational policies
- Measure and manage the vendor and supplier cost, quality and delivery performance
- Troubleshoot cost, quality and delivery concerns
- Manage risk relating to quality, cost, delivery and supply of purchases
- Work with relevant departments to manage minimum inventory requirements
- Facilitate timely placement of purchase orders
- Review purchase orders for proper authorization and compliance with organizational policy and procedures
- Develop and manage purchasing budgets and forecasts
- Monitor and reduce purchase variances to meet profit objectives
- Produce regular reports on purchase commitments, costs and delivery performance
- Oversee the operations and daily activities of the purchasing department
In order to be successful in this role the Stores Team Leader will need to demonstrate the following skills and attributes:
- Experience in a similar role in an Aviation MRO with a proven track record of success.
- Experience in sourcing parts, negotiating prices and ensuring there is a pipeline of parts
- Level 3 or 4 Diploma in Procurement and Supply (desirable)
- IT literate with knowledge of Aerotrac
