Our work is innovative and varied across Wind, Solar PV, Battery Storage (BESS) and Hydrogen. We have grown significantly over the last year and have ambitious plans. There’s lots to do! We are now looking for a Principal Consultant with experience across Wind projects to join our Advisory team.

About our Principal Wind Consultant role: This role is ideal for someone who enjoys a varied consultancy role. You will be responsible for providing technical and commercial advice to our clients across a range of wind projects from project inception through to project close. You will be responsible for Project Managing the delivery of medium/large consultancy projects, while supporting and mentoring more junior employees to help our team be the very best we can be. You will also be helping with proposals and tenders, heading off to conferences and supporting us with our wind positioning.

Some of the things you may find yourself doing:

  • Lead, plan, manage and deliver projects relating to wind energy across early-stage design, feasibility and techno-economic analysis phases in accordance with best practice project management principles.
  • Develop project briefs, maintain project objectives and define project scope, goals and deliverables.
  • Define work packages and tasks for internal and external resources.
  • Establish communication strategy with project stakeholders, monitor and report on project progress and maintain excellent communications throughout the project delivery.
  • Lead project meetings with internal and external resources and with project stakeholders.
  • Be the main point of contact for clients and partners and for all consultants, suppliers and contractors on projects.
  • Lead on the creation and maintenance project management documentation, including project budget, programmes, risk register, change registers, progress reports etc, and implement projects in accordance with the project plan.
  • Set expectations from the project team and manage, support and direct the project team (internal and external resources).
  • Manage the project budget, schedule, scope, quality, risks, issues and changes on behalf of our customers.
  • Report to stakeholders in a timely manner on project risks and issues, as well as providing solutions to resolve risks and issues.
  • Track deliverables and ensure these meet the requirements set out in the in the project brief and project plan.
  • Lead on quality assurance.
  • Implement and manage change when necessary to meet project outputs.
  • Close projects in accordance with our project management standards and industry best practice.
  • Evaluate, assess and report on the results of the project.
  • Provide leadership and mentoring to multi-disciplinary project teams, including deputy project managers and subject matter experts.
  • Promote a high-performing, collaborative team culture with a focus on quality, safety, and continuous improvement.

Skills and experience required:

  • Undergraduate degree in a relevant engineering discipline.
  • Project management experience of wind projects through early stage design and feasibility.
  • Good working knowledge of the UK wind sector/market.
  • Good working knowledge of engineering standards relevant to the design and construction of renewable energy projects (e.g. BS standards, Eurocodes, etc) desirable.
  • Experience in Energy Yield Assessments for wind projects would be advantageous, but not essential.
  • Experience in UK grid and BESS projects would be advantageous, but not essential.
  • Full UK driving licence.
  • Chartered or associate member of a relevant electrical or other engineering body.
