Senior Clinical Fellow in Neuroradiology (ST6+)

We are offering a Clinical Fellowship in Neuroradiology Imaging at Guy's & St Thomas' Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. This post is suitable for a senior trainee who has completed their FRCR examination, and is open to a candidate who has completed their specialty training (post CCT) but wishes to develop further subspecialty training in Neuroradiology. This post is primarily dedicated to Neuroradiological imaging, however, a small component will include general acute imaging, with an emphasis on acute CT and MRI spinal reporting.

Main duties of the job:

• The post holder will be expected to carry out the following:

• 7 sessions of dedicated Neuroradiology imaging including supervised acute and outpatient MRI reporting, multidisciplinary meeting preparation and attendance (General Neurology, Paediatric Neurology, Pituitary, Carotid and Ophthalmology MDM's).
• 2 sessions will be allocated to general acute reporting, with an emphasis on acute CT and spinal MRI imaging.
• 1 session will be allocated to supporting professional activities e.g. administrative duties/audit.

The postholder will be expected to undertake a supervisory role of junior trainees and will be encouraged to take part in teaching and other educational activities. There will also be an opportunity to undertake subspecialty research, if the postholder wishes.

On call requirements:

• 1 in 6 weekend days 9-5pm (either Saturday or Sunday)
• Shadowing of Neuroradiology Consultant once every 2 weeks.

Person Specification:

Qualifications and Training:

• Essential: Full GMC Registration and hold a licence to practise FRCR or equivalent, 7 complete postgraduate years or post-CCT or equivalent.

Clinical Experience:

• Essential: Prior experience in general radiology, including acute inpatient and emergency work.
• Desirable: Experience of independent spine MRI reporting, Experience of outpatient Oncology CT reporting.

Knowledge and Skills:

• Essential: Able to prioritise clinical needs by applying sound medical knowledge, Ability to work as an effective member of a multidisciplinary team.
• Desirable: Evidence of presentations at national and/or international meetings.

Teaching:

• Desirable: Experience of undergraduate teaching and postgraduate training.

Management:

• Desirable: Evidence of understanding of the role of clinical management.

Other:

• Essential: Evidence of understanding of and adherence to the principles of Good Medical Practice set out by the GMC, Evidence of contribution to effective clinical audit and clinical risk management.
• Desirable: Experience in clinical guideline development, Evidence of leadership skills.
