We are currently looking for a Key Operator to join our Slicing team at Pilgrim's Europe - Redruth. In this role, you will play a crucial part in leading the team to meet production targets, quality standards, and safety requirements while driving continuous improvement across slicing lines.
Key information:
- Contract Type: Full-Time Permanent
- Shift: Monday to Friday
- Hours: 05:00 am - 14:30 pm
As a Key Operator you will lead, support and advise the line team through effective coordination, communication, and performance monitoring. You will ensure operational excellence while delivering on KPIs for Safety, Quality, Delivery, and Cost.
Key Responsibilities:
- Organise, prioritise, and lead slicing line operations to meet production targets.
- Support training, development, and coaching of line team members.
- Maintain full traceability and ensure product specifications are met.
- Monitor, check and verify standards (e.g., hygiene, safety, paperwork).
- Capture and escalate downtime and performance issues.
- Conduct root cause analysis (RCA) and implement corrective actions.
- Coordinate with QA, Process Controllers, Engineers, and other support teams.
- Drive team engagement and effective communication across shifts.
Skills, Knowledge & Expectations:
- Flexible & Multi-line Capable. This role is not line-specific; ability to run multiple lines is essential.
- Strong leadership and people skills.
- Excellent communication and teamwork.
- Able to work independently and under pressure.
- Strong understanding of Food Safety, Health & Safety, and Technical compliance.
- Basic H&S and Food Safety Awareness.
- Willingness to learn and upskill (training provided).
Desirable Qualifications:
- NVQ Level 2 (minimum), Level 3 preferred
- Level 1 Food Safety
- Product Integrity Level 1
- ILM Level 2 or higher
- Essential HACCP
- COSHH / IOSHH
- Professional Trainer's Certificate
