We are recruiting on behalf of Polden Bower School, where you will gain valuable experience and a Level 4 Network Engineer qualification. We pride ourselves on the support we give our apprentices. You won’t be left on your own to figure things out; we will support you throughout your apprenticeship journey, together with your employer!

About the Employer: Polden Bower is a 160-place special school and has the specialist resources needed to meet the needs of our students. State-of-the-art facilities for all the children and young people include a warm water pool for physiotherapy, a sports hall, a sensory room, and fully accessible classrooms with the latest teaching technology. This is a very exciting time to be joining a growing Federation. We are working in partnership with The Bridge School, which is the PRU within Bridgwater.

You will be providing IT support for Staff and Students across 6 sites in Bridgwater and Street. This could range from delivery hardware to classes. On a day-to-day basis, you will be assisting on our helpdesk with IT requests for staff, as well as helping with maintenance and upgrades.

The apprenticeship is a flexible, blended learning programme designed to upskill IT professionals in designing, installing, maintaining, and supporting communication networks. The programme combines advanced training, expert mentorship, and the latest tools to prepare learners for success in a high-demand field.

The training you’ll be provided with:

  • Comprehensive digital introductory modules including technical concepts and personal/professional development
  • Level 4 Network Engineer apprenticeship standard e-learning training materials
  • Specialist CompTIA vendor qualifications
  • Virtual classroom training on the CompTIA Network+ certification
  • Access to uCertify training platform; core learning materials, assessments, and practical hands-on-labs
  • Monthly assessor visits and competency checks
  • 9 am - 5 pm Support desk for technical support

You will also have the opportunity to network with a range of other apprentices on our programme who can share ideas, offer suggestions and support. Our apprentices love being able to help each other! As one of our apprentices, you will also have access to our online portal that will provide you with information and technical guidance, as well as links to the helpdesk to speak to technicians who can give real-time advice and support.

  • Must have experience in a technical support environment
  • Full and valid UK driving licence
  • Roadworthy car with valid insurance allowing you to travel on business work
  • Technical knowledge of WAN and LAN networking technologies
  • Fault finding and technical troubleshooting
  • Networking infrastructure- switching, routing and firewall

Working Week: 37.5 hours per week

Start date: Fixed term contract with a start date of September 2025.

Salary: £14,566 (meets national minimum wage for apprentices)

Expected Duration: 18 months on programme and 3 months End Point Assessment
