The predicted salary is between 43200 - 72000 £ per year.

MPI is currently recruiting a permanent Rolling Stock Mechanical Engineer. The Rolling Stock Engineers are responsible for all aspects of rolling stock engineering to support fleet availability, technical and safety assurance, and new fleet introduction for our London-based client.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Identifying, managing, and documenting safety compliance and reliability improvements on the client's fleets.
  • Providing technical support in vehicle systems including ATO, electrical and power systems, electronic and control, mechanical, auxiliary, and pneumatic control systems.
  • Managing rolling stock materials and suppliers.
  • Ensuring engineering compliance with standards and managing change.
  • Overseeing maintenance and reliability processes.
  • Managing rolling stock documentation.

Key accountabilities:

  • Delivering technical changes through the company's assurance (CAP) process, including acting as a Designated Competent Person.
  • Managing projects and suppliers, including site visits in the UK and Europe.
  • Implementing predictive and preventive activities to enhance fleet availability and reliability.
  • Leading technical compliance and safety assurance activities, including assessments, reports, and audits.
  • Managing the Annual Asset Maintenance Plan (AAMP) and ISO55001 requirements.
  • Developing team members and succession planning.
  • Planning and managing engineering activities to improve business efficiency.
  • Managing the implementation of innovative work streams and in-house capabilities.
  • Providing technical support for engineering vehicles regarding compliance, assurance, documentation, and maintenance.

Essential and desirable qualifications and experience:

  • Higher engineering qualification or degree, accredited by IET/I.MechE, or relevant experience.
  • Chartered Engineer (C.Eng) or Incorporated Engineer (I.Eng) accreditation desirable.
  • Post-qualification experience in a technical rolling stock environment.
  • Good IT skills, including MS Office; knowledge of diagnostic and engineering software desirable.
  • Excellent communication skills for technical documentation and presentations.
  • Knowledge of rolling stock compliance and safety assurance, ROGS, and ORR requirements.
  • Experience with contracts, KPIs, third-party suppliers, and train introductions.
  • Sufficient knowledge of all rolling stock systems.
