Are you currently working within HR and looking for your next career move? This key role at GB Railfreight offers the perfect opportunity to make a real impact! As a HR Advisor, you will provide expert HR advice and support to business leaders and managers in their effective management of the employee lifecycle, including onboarding, training, coaching, absence management, performance management, employee relations, talent development, retention, and the offboarding processes. You will strive to ensure best practices are followed consistently and professionally across the client area with a view of mitigating people related risks, in alignment with wider HR strategy and overall company objectives.
This role will be Midlands based with regular travel to other offices/sites as required including West Midlands covering Birmingham and Bescot, East Midlands including Toton, Bardon Hill, Wellingborough, Eastleigh, Peak Forest and covering Cardiff, Bristol and Crewe. A typical week will involve travel to any of these locations or any of our GB Railfreight offices at least 3 days per week. As such a driving licence is essential. The salary on offer is up to £45,000. Closing date 30th June.
- Provide expert advice on people matters and challenges, including performance, capability, absence and disciplinary matters.
- Deliver key HR initiatives to client groups of approximately 200-400 staff.
- Support client group managers in developing and retaining talent, succession planning and change management to support the wider company objectives.
- Analyse trends and metrics in partnership with other members of the HR team to develop solutions and policies.
- Support the resolution of complex employee relations issues including investigations, TUPE, redundancy, settlements, and disputes.
- Role model and coach managers on fair culture principles and employment law practices.
- Coach Managers to become more effective and confident in people related management practices.
- Support the client group in maintaining/enhancing an inclusive culture.
- Work with the wider HR function including the Talent Acquisition team to provide the best solutions to the business to meet the resourcing needs.
- Help evaluate future resourcing needs based on knowledge and experience of the client group.
- Support Operational Managers in local level union matters.
- Work with other HR Advisors to ensure a consistent approach is applied to people matters across the business.
- Work with the HR Manager to manage specialist projects and initiatives.
- Actively measure and monitor existing policies and procedures within business area.
- Support wellness initiatives identified in the HR strategy, ensuring they are deployed across the client group.
- Support managers with absence management, including seeking proactive solutions to staff wellbeing across the business.
- Regular reporting on key HR and business metrics.
- Regular engagement with key stakeholders and staff within your client group.
Skills And Experience
- 2 years of experience in a generalist HR role, ideally with an ER focus.
- CIPD qualified or working towards.
- Proven experience of working in partnership and building strong working relationships with managers.
- Coaching and influencing experience.
- Demonstrated strong writing skills including investigation meetings, disciplinary outcome letters, with great attention to detail.
- Excellent knowledge of UK Employment Law.
- Proficiency with Digital Tools.
- Ability to Leverage Artificial Intelligence.
- Project Management Skills desirable.
- Experience of working in a fast-paced HR environment, working under pressure and to tight deadlines.
- Effective in addressing change and transformation.
- Ability to leverage technology to increase efficiency and drive business results.
- You must be flexible and willing to travel across multiple locations; a valid driving licence is essential.
