The Role: As a Senior Manager you will be the team's go-to media expert, responsible for crafting and executing high impact media strategies for our clients. With a deep understanding of the national, broadcast, and business media landscape, you will build relationships that drive coverage, manage crises, and position clients as industry leaders. You’ll also collaborate closely with our account handling team to ensure media relations efforts align seamlessly with broader client strategies.
- Key Responsibilities:
- Media Relations: Develop and execute media strategies to secure impactful coverage in national, broadcast, and business outlets. Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with key journalists, editors, and producers across target media. Proactively identify media opportunities to position clients as thought leaders in their industries. Handle crisis communications with precision, ensuring client reputations remain intact.
- Strategic Leadership: Act as a media lead on key client accounts, ensuring results exceed expectations. Partner with account handlers to align media relations strategies with overall client goals. Provide guidance and training to junior team members on media best practices.
- Client Management: Build trusted relationships with clients by consistently delivering exceptional results. Offer strategic counsel on media opportunities, risks, and trends. Prepare clients for media interviews, including message development and media training.
- Industry Expertise: Stay ahead of trends in the media landscape, technology sector, and PR industry. Leverage data and analytics to measure the impact of media strategies and adjust accordingly.
What We’re Looking For:
- Media Expertise: Proven experience in securing coverage across national, broadcast, and business media outlets. A strong network of media contacts, particularly in the tech sector. Exceptional pitching skills with a track record of delivering top-tier media coverage.
- Professional Experience: Substantial experience, preferably within an agency environment. Experience working with technology clients is highly preferred.
- Strategic Thinking: Ability to craft and implement media strategies that drive results. Skilled in crisis communications and issues management is a bonus.
- Leadership Skills: Strong interpersonal and team management skills, with the ability to inspire and mentor others. Adept at managing multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Communication Skills: Outstanding verbal and written communication skills. Experience preparing and presenting strategies, results, and recommendations to clients and internal teams.
