The role of Apprentice Construction Manager is to support the Head of Construction in ensuring that the project is completed safely, within an agreed timeframe and budget. This degree apprenticeship is for someone starting their journey into construction management, understanding how a complex project works, and is facilitated by commencing works in the permit and compliance team.

The role involves site assurance visits, logistics management, and effective planning of the works to ensure permit compliance. It will work under the close supervision of a more senior Construction Manager. Our Heathrow team collaborates with our customer and partners to deliver the UK hub's capital investment programme. The H7 programme aims to enhance the Customer Experience and transform the airport into a Net Zero aviation hub—making Heathrow an exciting place to work.

What does joining an apprenticeship at Costain offer you? We offer a wide range of apprenticeships across various levels and durations, working on projects throughout the UK in sectors including nuclear, highways, rail, water, airports, and tunnels. You will be supported by your project line manager, the Early Careers Team, and your training provider, which could be a college, university, or independent training provider. During your interview, the qualification level will be discussed. The Early Careers Team will register you with a suitable provider. You will work both on-site and off-site, gaining practical experience and academic knowledge. You will be supported throughout your apprenticeship to meet your technical and competency goals.

  • Assist with monitoring and ensuring safety and design compliance

Some roles may require security clearance, which involves being a UK resident for at least 5 years and passing vetting processes.

Qualifications

  • 5 GCSEs including English, Maths, and Science (Grade 9-4 or A*-C)
  • 3 A Levels including Maths and a physical science (Grade B in Maths, B, C or above in science) and/or BTEC (Grade DDM or above)

Additional qualities include organization, creativity, problem-solving, teamwork, communication skills, and computer literacy.
