As a pitcher with us, your minimum responsibilities include:
- Assisting with solid waste collection by manually loading garbage, recycling, and yard waste into the truck on designated routes.
- Assisting the garbage truck driver with backing and maneuvering.
- Safely stepping on and off the garbage truck repeatedly throughout the day.
- Following route sheets and instructions from the driver or dispatcher to ensure all stops are serviced.
- Maintaining cleanliness around collection and dumping areas by picking up any spilled waste.
- Performing basic safety checks on equipment and reporting issues to the driver or supervisor.
- Interacting professionally and courteously with customers when necessary.
- Performing other related duties as assigned by the driver or supervisor.
What We Need From You:
- Ability to perform physically demanding work, including lifting up to 50 lbs repeatedly and working in all weather conditions.
- Comfortable with repetitive motions such as walking, bending, lifting, and climbing.
- Strong teamwork and communication skills.
- Reliable and punctual with a strong work ethic.
- Previous experience in waste collection or manual labour is an asset.
- Ability to pass all pre-employment requirements (e.g., physical test, background check, etc.).
