Oxais enabling the transition to self-driving vehicles through an initial focus on the most commercially advanced sector; the autonomous shuttling of goods and people. We are home to some of the world's leading experts on autonomous vehicles, creating solutions such as Oxa Driver, equipping vehicles with full self-driving functionality; Oxa MetaDriver, using Generative AI to accelerate and assure the safety of deployments; and Oxa Hub, a set of cloud-based offerings for autonomous fleet management. Our technology is being deployed across the UK and the U.S, and we're partnering with a fast-growing ecosystem of operators, vehicle OEMs and equipment makers serving autonomous transportation globally as it advances. Based in Oxford, and with offices in Canada and the U.S, Oxa was founded in 2014 and is growing rapidly (350+ ‘Oxbots' to date). Our purpose is to change the way the Earth moves, through an uncompromising focus on safety, efficiency and explainability of our AI approaches. The company has attracted $225 million from leading investors so far, with $140 million raised in the last Series C funding round in January 2023.
Your Team: As a vital component of the Zero Occupancy Operations (ZOO) function within OxaDriver, the Shield Perception team spearheads the development and deployment of cutting-edge perception capabilities essential for enabling truly driverless, unsupervised vehicle operation. Leveraging a rich array of sensor data, the team designs, implements and deploys both model-free and model-based perception components specifically focused on the critical task of close-range hazard perception. Rigorous validation, employing extensive statistical analysis across real-world and synthetic datasets, ensures the high integrity and reliability of these components. In unwavering support of Oxa's Universal Autonomy principle, the team's work spans diverse platforms, sensor technologies, and operational environments, ensuring that Oxa Driver is universally deployable. Furthermore, the team is committed to building explainable systems and components, ensuring that the autonomous vehicle's safe decision-making processes are transparent and predictable.
Your Role: Play a pivotal role taking the Shield Perception "code to road". Work closely with Oxa's ML Perception Model Factory team to support development, integration, deployment and validation of the components they develop. Provide fast and meaningful feedback from our deployments to aid our validation lifecycle, including actively contributing to Oxa's SDLC. Conduct root cause analysis from Oxa's Shield Perception deployments and actively support the team in developing solutions that address them. Develop and contribute to the design of Safety Performance Indicators for in-use monitoring of the shield components. Work collaboratively alongside other shield perception, control, and safety engineers to address novel engineering problems that arise from Oxa's universal autonomy endeavour. Be willing to learn cloud technologies for enabling accelerated development at scale.
Requirements: What you need to succeed: Proficient in C++. Experience of classical robotics approaches across multimodal perception (lidar, radar, camera). 3D/4D Perception. Experience with Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC). Familiarity with Git.
Extra Kudos if you have: Hands-on experience within a mobile or field robotics role. Experience of computer vision or image processing. Familiarity of Object Tracking and Prediction. Experience with Protocol Buffers and messaging systems (E.g ROS). Containerisation (E.g. docker). CI/CD experience. CUDA, Triton. Ability to code in Python. Experience of cloud technologies (e.g. AWS, GCP, Azure). Experience with observability platforms such as Grafana.
The Candidate Journey: Multi-Step and Two-Way. No-one wants to feel like a square peg in a round hole, so this process is designed to give you every chance to get the measure of us, and us of you. The various stages give you every opportunity to show your unique strengths and qualities, and enables each of us to establish if we're a good fit for the other.
