THE OPPORTUNITY
We are seeking an experienced RF Engineer to join a high-performing team delivering advanced solutions within the defence and aerospace sector. The role involves supporting the design, development, test, and validation of radio frequency systems and subsystems in a complex engineering environment.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Design and development of RF circuits, systems, and subsystems for satellite and defence-related platforms.
- Conduct RF simulations and performance analysis (e.g. S-parameters, link budgets, noise figures, etc.).
- Review and assess RF and system-level test reports for accuracy, completeness, and compliance.
- Work on RF synthesiser design, integration, and optimisation.
- Support antenna design, waveguide structures, filters, amplifiers, and passive/active components.
- Perform hands-on lab testing using RF test equipment (e.g. VNAs, spectrum analysers, signal generators).
- Participate in design reviews, technical documentation, and compliance assessments.
- Interface with multidisciplinary engineering teams to integrate RF solutions into larger systems.
- Provide technical input across the full lifecycle, from concept through to production and test.
EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS:
- Proven experience in RF and microwave engineering in aerospace, defence, or telecommunications domains.
- Strong background in RF circuit design and performance analysis.
- Experience in synthesiser development and debugging.
- Proficient in reviewing technical documentation and test reports.
- Skilled with simulation and design tools such as HFSS, ADS, CST, or similar.
- Familiarity with EMC/EMI considerations and environmental qualification testing.
- Experience with RF lab instrumentation and hands-on testing.
- Good understanding of systems engineering principles and documentation standards.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
Desirable:
- Experience working in a satellite communications environment.
- Familiarity with space or defence standards (e.g. ECSS, MIL-STD).
- Knowledge of digital signal processing and software-defined radios.
