The Sales Analyst role is an entry-level position designed to provide hands-on exposure to the dynamic environment of Global Markets. This role is a blend of business engagement and operational support, offering candidates a unique opportunity to contribute to client-focused projects while building a strong foundation in sales and trading.
Sales Analysts will be expected to complete a CISI certification in regulation, securities & derivatives within six months of joining. The role focuses on providing a markets-based suite of sales and trading solutions across a number of different institutional client segments. It offers a full spectrum of integrated capabilities to deliver leading market insight, risk management, and execution services to issuing and/or investor clients, including access to major global markets across asset classes including debt, foreign exchange, interest rate, credit, equity, securitization, and commodities. The role provides competitive pricing to all clients and seeks out new opportunities with prospective clients while maximizing profit and adhering to regulatory statutes.
Knowledge and Skills
- Participate in real-time sales and trading activities by working alongside senior team members to support the business and analyse market trends.
- Develop a deep understanding of financial markets and client strategies.
- Act as point person to provide client support in the form of proposals, marketing material, event planning, and scheduling with the cooperation of trading and sales, research, and marketing.
- Engage with clients on logistical coordination and post-meeting follow-ups.
- Help manage the flow of inquiries, market data, and other information from clients.
- Route client calls appropriately and respond quickly to client questions.
- Actively contribute to desk initiatives by shadowing and supporting team members in sales, trading, and client interactions.
- Provide insights and solutions for improving desk efficiency and productivity.
- Develop strong market knowledge to provide comprehensive service to clients, develop new solutions, and construct compelling recommendations.
- Collaborate on ad hoc projects that contribute to business growth, including data analysis, process improvements, and supporting strategic initiatives.
- Participate in structured training programs on market products, trading strategies, and client engagement.
- Build technical and soft skills to enhance progress.
- Read, analyse and interpret common technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents in order to better serve client needs.
- Verify that all confirms on trades or sales are accurate and promptly delivered.
- Build effective relationships with internal/external stakeholders.
- Cultivate strong relationships with the research team in order to understand their industries and stock coverage.
- Define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
- Develop an understanding of and proficiency in using all required systems and models.
- Administer all aspects of the sales and or trading desk, record keeping, reporting, and file maintenance in accordance with internal controls and compliance policies and external regulations.
- Respond to requests for information from both internal and external sources.
- Communicate market data and client changes to colleagues when they are on the road or in meetings.
- Consider risk, internal controls and compliance as part of day-to-day accountabilities and adhere to policies and procedures.
- Think creatively and propose new solutions.
- Exercise judgment to identify, diagnose, and solve problems within given rules.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in finance, business, economics, or a related field.
- Strong analytical and organizational skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities in fast-paced environments.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills for effective collaboration with clients and team members.
- Willingness to rotate through multiple business groups and adapt quickly to new challenges.
- Demonstrated interest in financial markets and a desire to build a career in sales, trading, or market analysis.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) with an eagerness to learn specialized software tools.
- A commitment to obtaining CISI certification in regulation, securities & derivatives within the first six months.
- Some experience in Macro, Python etc. preferred, but not essential.
