As an Operational Resilience Manager at Saga you’ll be responsible for maintaining and developing the Operational Resilience Framework for Saga Insurance, increasing the resilience of the organisation and ensuring regulatory obligations continue to be met. It’s an exciting time to join Saga. We are working towards our Affinity Partnership with Ageas, which is due to go live this year. You’ll join us and play a pivotal role in the transition and governance that surrounds the partnership. Our Operational Resilience framework is in a great place, and you will come in to maintain and develop it. Initially, we are offering this on an FTC basis, but post-transition, we envisage a longer-term need to ensure the resilience of our Insurance business while aligning with the rest of the Saga Group. We offer flexibility over where you work – you choose a place where you feel most comfortable and productive, either from home or in one of our hubs. There will be an occasional need to collaborate in person in London and Folkestone, Kent.

Role Responsibility

As our Operational Resilience Manager, you will be responsible for developing and embedding the Operational Resilience Framework across Saga Insurance. This will include upgrading and maintaining existing capabilities for areas such as business continuity, incident response, technology resilience and oversight of supplier/third-party resilience. Other accountabilities will include:

  • Ensuring that senior management are fully aware of their Operational Resilience roles and responsibilities and are provided with the relevant guidance, data, and management information to help facilitate decision making.
  • Ensuring Operational Resilience is completely embedded at all levels of the organisation.
  • Ensuring that Important Business Services (IBS) delivered within the business are identified, mapped, assessed for resilience identifying gaps and defining remediation measures to improve resilience.
  • Defining Impact Tolerances (ITols) for each IBS and conduct testing of the ability to remain within those tolerances.
  • Identifying, quantifying and coordinating remediation of IBS vulnerabilities which increase the risk of breaching ITols.
  • Establishing effective collaborative relationships with stakeholders across the organisation, including Saga Group.
  • Ensuring business requirements are met, and the approach is aligned to the Saga Group Organisational Resilience strategy.
  • Coordinating and providing relevant management information to governance committees including the Operational Resilience Steering Committee and the Audit, Risk and Compliance Committee.
  • Designing and delivering relevant and proportionate training programmes and exercises to raise awareness of Operational Resilience.

The Ideal Candidate

The successful Operational Resilience Manager will have experience in the development, deployment and management of business-critical processes. Our ideal candidate will have previously worked within Financial Services and will have detailed knowledge of operational resilience regulations as set by the FCA/PRA. Ideally you will have experience working within a partnered organisation. Operational skills and experience required includes:

  • Knowledge across the following resilience disciplines: Business continuity, Incident and Crisis management, Technology Resilience, and supplier/vendor management.
  • Presenting confidently to technical experts.
  • Ability to simplify technical information for senior partners and to present conclusions and recommendations in a form that is readily understood by non-technical management.
  • Be a highly motivated and independent problem solver to provide challenge within your subject matter expertise.
  • Strong communication skills, both oral and written with the ability to influence senior stakeholders.
  • Strong organisational skills and attention to detail, with a demonstrated ability to work independently, lead multiple projects, ruthlessly prioritise.
  • Ability to manage a high volume of tasks, deadlines, requirements, and decisions whilst driving exceptional customer outcomes.
  • Management and delivery of high-quality reports and proposal documents.
  • High levels of integrity, upholding the standards and policies set by the business.
  • Drive and determination to develop within the role through increasing technical knowledge and building effective relationships within the business.
