Job Description:
Set in the leafy suburb of Edgbaston, close to Birmingham City centre, Priory Hospital Woodbourne is set in beautiful grounds, conveniently located for access to the West Midlands motorway network and with good local public transport links. Our unique range of services gives our colleagues the opportunity to develop skills and experience of working with a broad range of mental health conditions across four mental health service lines, across the hospital’s seven wards.
Role Description:
Supports Occupational Therapists (OTs) in planning, delivering, and evaluating therapy to promote clients' mental, emotional, physical, and social well-being. Works within a multidisciplinary team to help patients engage in self-care, productivity, and recreational activities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist with therapy plans and clinical assessments under OT guidance.
- Accurately maintain clinical records and report on patient progress in 1:1 and group settings.
- Promptly escalate any unusual physical, emotional, or mental health changes.
- Support development of activity schedules and service line timetables.
- Facilitate group sessions (e.g., psychoeducational, DBT-informed, goal setting, life skills).
- Encourage patient participation and social interaction within therapeutic activities.
- Contribute ideas to improve patient experience through feedback and evaluation.
- Participate in group-wide initiatives and consistent program delivery across the organization.
- Help patients build life skills, a sense of purpose, and emotional resilience.
Knowledge / Skills / Qualifications:
- Ability to assist with assessments and therapy planning.
- Experience or interest in Autism, DBT, or life skills training (desirable).
- Minimum: GCSEs (A–C), NVQ Level 2, or equivalent experience.
