We are seeking an early-career Part 21J Cabin Interiors, Design & Certification Engineer capable of driving safety, technical excellence, innovation, and best practices within a matrix organization.
Reporting to the Aircraft Interior Modifications Manager, the successful candidate will support BGS EASA Modification activities, developing, certifying, and integrating interior design solutions such as cabin modifications, Cargo Handling, Water & Waste Systems, and Exterior Liveries. The role involves direct collaboration with airline and leasing customers, working with BGS global engineering teams across multiple time zones, utilizing CAD tools and other design methods, in accordance with the EASA Design Organisation Handbook (DOH) across all Boeing aircraft models, including the 747, 767, 777, 787, 737NG, and 737MAX.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design Engineering: Support the development of innovative aerospace designs and modifications. Create detailed design documentation, including CAD models, drawings, and specifications. Assist in developing and executing test plans and procedures.
- Certification Engineering: Work with cross-functional teams to ensure compliance with EASA/FAA regulations and Part 21J DOA requirements. Prepare and review certification documents such as compliance reports, safety assessments, and risk analyses. Participate in certification projects to support approval of new designs and modifications. Liaise with regulatory authorities and internal stakeholders to address certification issues and obtain approvals.
- Technical Support: Provide technical support to production, testing, and maintenance teams. Assist in troubleshooting design and certification issues, proposing solutions.
- Continuous Improvement: Contribute to process improvement initiatives. Stay informed on industry trends, technologies, and regulatory changes.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Aerospace or Mechanical Engineering or related field.
- Strong understanding of aerospace design principles.
- Familiarity with CAD software (e.g., CATIA, 3DExperience) and analysis tools.
- Basic knowledge of EASA/FAA regulations and certification processes.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Effective communication and teamwork skills.
- Enthusiasm for learning and professional development.
- Previous internship or project experience in aerospace design and certification is a plus.
